With over 30 years of experience supporting community banking, Mr. Matteson is an accomplished community bank executive and attorney and presently serves as Heritage’s Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to joining Heritage, Mr. Matteson held key leadership positions that included Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at financial institutions with assets between $2 billion and $25 billion. His expertise spans operations, enterprise risk management, legal and board governance, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, digital strategy, and regulatory relations. Mr. Matteson has led diverse teams across numerous business functions, including information technology, human resources, marketing, compliance, facilities, operations, customer experience, and physical security. He is passionate about building collaborative teams, driving operational excellence, and delivering exceptional service to members and employees alike.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Matteson has served as a trustee for a nonprofit hospital foundation, reflecting his longstanding commitment to community service and giving back.
